Since last Sunday, after finishing the 2008 Supersport World Championship in Portimao in 3rd place, Team Stiggy has already expanded into a four rider team contesting both the WSBK and WSS class. The new riders hit the Portimao track for half a day on Tuesday and all Wednesday and completed their first test for the 2009 season with the team.

"In the Supersport class we were using the same bikes in the test as this season - except for the suspension, were we tried some new parts from Ohlins. The test was just to let our riders get a first impression of the team, the machinery and find their right positions on the bikes. In the SBK class we are using only one bike at the moment, with Leon and Roby sharing it so that they can evaluate the engine and electronics side for the first time."
Following an impressive wild-card ride at the final round of the 2008 World Superbike Championship at the Portuguese circuit, finishing third in the second race, it was Leon's first test with the team.
Leon (WSBK)
"I'm really happy! It has been a positive two day shakedown for us. The team works really well and we found out a lot of information about the bike. I managed a 1:44, only 0.5 off my best time with HM-Plant last weekend, so I'm happy with that. My goal for today was to get in the 1:44s and I'm pleased we managed that. We know what we need to change and what work has to be done for the next test, so that's good.
Roby (WSBK)
"We had a good test and I'm happy! We were able to work well together and made progress during the two days. All the work we did managed to improve the bike all the time. Today I managed to get more confidence then yesterday and I have to say that the team has also worked very well. I did 25-30 laps today and from here we can only get better."
Anthony (WSS)
"For me these two days has been all new, new bike new track. It is a very big difference coming from a MotoGP bike to this this one but, all and all, I think we managed to do pretty well. The first day was just about getting comfortable on the bike and, although we need some more adjustments, we are definitely getting closer. The team and I are working well together and we managed to improve the bike and my lap-times every time I went out."
Gianluca (WSS)
"The first day was just getting to know the team as well as finding the right position on the bike. Today we worked harder getting the bike settings right and concentrating on the lap times. I managed a 1:46.7, just 0.7 off my lap-time in the race on Sunday, so I'm happy with that. There is definitely potential in the bike and the team so I'm looking forward to the next test."
